Photography is a way to preserve moments in time for future generations to look back on. It's the most pure way to preserve emotion and stories. My work as a photographer is grounded in the concept of telling stories and creating a unified image for the programs I work for. View my complete photography portfolio below.
My sophomore year of college. I was entering my first full season with Ole Miss Football at a pivotal time for the program: a veteran roster, the most talent we had ever assembled, and the highest expectations in every area. I knew my work had to do this team justice, and I believe that I did just that. This year was one of transformation, and one for me to learn new skills and excel at a level I had once dreamed of working in. From massive wins against Georgia and Oklahoma, to landing one of the top freshman recruiting classes in the country, this year was the year that Ole Miss truly established itself on the national stage, and I am proud to have played a small part in it. This was also the year I began working with Ole Miss Women's Basketball, shooting both photos and videos for the team. This experience taught me how to be a versatile creative, being able to do several things at once, and how to work collaboratively across multiple different groups in our Athletic Department, along with a pretty epic win over #8 Kentucky. Additionally, through my role with The DM, I got to cover massive Baseball and Basketball wins over Tennessee, and a March Madness Sweet Sixteen run by our Men's Basketball Team. All of these experiences have greatly enhanced my perspective on our industry, and have taught me how to effectively tell the story of the athletes that shape our culture.
My first semester at Ole Miss was one of learning. It was the first time in my creative career that I had the experience of being mentored by someone else, and it served as my introduction to College Football through my internship with Ole Miss Football. I additionally picked up a job as a Photo Contributer for The Daily Mississippian. These two jobs pushed me more than I had ever been pushed before as a creative, as I learned more in this one semester about our industry and HOW to be an effective creative than I had ever before. Looking back, it was a massive stepping stone in my career, one I am extremely proud of.
During my first semester of college, I juggled numerous responsibilities: Being a student-athlete, an intern for my college's athletic department, an on-campus job in our Alumni Development office, Sports Writing Editor of our student newspaper, and of course, being a full-time student. As an Athletic Communications Intern, I took photos and videos at various contests for our DIII Athletic Programs, getting to cover a GNAC Championship Appearance for our Women's Soccer Team, a Women's Basketball exhibition match against Boston University, which was my first exposure to Division I Athletics, and worked concessions at numerous Boston College Hockey and Football games. This semester showed me the additional work and focus that goes into maintaining a collegiate athletic department's social media presence, and served as the perfect introduction to collegiate athletics for me.
In high school, I conducted extensive freelance work for our various athletic programs, gaining lots of hands-on experience taking photos, recording videos, and editing both. I was fortunate enough to cover Cinderella seasons for our Boys Basketball and Baseball teams my senior year, along with State Series runs in Soccer, Cheerleading, and Baseball. These varied experiences served as the perfect start to my creative career, giving me the confidence to network with other creatives and build a name for myself, while also teaching me skills in time management and in collaborating with others.
